Born again child of God who has a flare for the unusual, I have extremely itchy feet and I live through the many pages of African Literature books. Art best describes how I waste away my days, fashion, food and fine art are some of the portals that cultivate my mind, body and soul.
Winter seriously has no chill, my recent trip to Johannesburg was filled with many adventures. Prowling the arty streets of Braam, stuffing my face in Melville and exploring the many textured and interesting buildings in the biggest man made jungle.
At the moment I’m currently sitting in my vintage inspired bedroom in Shanghai China, yes I know I know, I did mention in my previous blog post that I had some exciting news (does the happy dance), I feel the trip to Shanghai deserves a full length post so stay tuned for that.
I teamed up with one of my besties for this post she has her own vintage store and she’s a ninja of a stylist, she’s currently selling some amazing winter goodies. I will link all the details at the end of the post.
I love this outfit, it’s very practical, unique and has that vintage-preppy look which I’m currently obsessed with at the moment. I’m really excited about this new journey in my life. It is such a blessing and I know I will grow in leaps and bounds.
I know It’s been a really long time since I used this as a platform for communication and you know what, honestly speaking I’ve really missed blogging! I’m an individual who loves sharing her thoughts, creative ideas and passions with the world, almost nothing is off limits (almost).
I recently turned a year older on the 11th of May and for once in my life I actually had no expectations for birthday, didn’t really make any concrete plans, I simply went with the flow. I’m definitely starting to growing up, I’ve always been a planner and a perfectionist, in my head everything has to be perfect. I’m learning that sometimes you need to just relax and let life happen and simply enjoy the little moments.
This outfit describes my current thought process, simply living and outwardly expressing my emotions wholeheartedly. You will never see me not wearing any color, it’s almost unheard of! This outfit was a last minute mash-up for my dear friends baby shower, the dress code was “black and white with a touch of gold”. This was honestly the best I could come up with while sticking to my personal style (vintage-boho chic). I’m currently obsessed with the bell sleeve trend. My faux leather skirt adds a chic, edgy, elegant and sophisticated touch to the overall look.
The braids were inspired by one of my favorite French bloggers and I personally think my hair stylist did an exceptional job. This is the perfect girl boss combo, a really chic outfit and (dope) warrior inspired hair do.
My word of encouragement for this month is: Always be a girl boss, you’re the leading lady of your life, you call the shots, make and sometimes break your own rules.
In the spirit of Mother’s Day I want to acknowledge three really incredible and important girl bosses in my life. My Mother, Grandmother (Mamati) and Aunt, your prayers, guidance, strict mantra and philosophy in raising me up have created a God fearing, woman who at times deemed herself unworthy, but is confidently walking towards the path God mapped out for her. You have enriched my life with love, I’m truly blessed enkosi (thank you).
Does this new post mean that I’m back and ready to slay this blogging thing? The answer is yes, your girl is back, my bounce is back, your girl is back (cue Change Clothes by Jay Z).
With all that being said I have some really exciting news stay tuned…
Yours in new beginnings, peace, love and happiness.
I write this blog post seated in my new apartment, i hope everyone had a well rested break and enjoyed the Christmas Holidays.
My very warm summer holiday was spent driving along some of South Africa’s most beautiful roads, landscapes and finally exploring the Karoo. The highlight of the trip has to be my time spent in Cape Town, i can’t stop gushing about how stunning this City is. The little vintage treasures we found in the many thrift stores in Woodstock gave me some much needed inspiration for my new home.
I have some really exciting content ideas for the blog, i have not been the most constant with this platform, but i promise to do at least one post a week, that’s actually one of my new year’s resolutions. I also want to focus on interior decor and some exciting DIY video’s and maybe a YouTube channel, once i have all the vlogging equipment.
I’m really excited about the year ahead, i just know that God has an amazing plan not just for me, but for you reading this post. This year for me will be about growing up, lots of traveling ,growing spiritually and improving my health and fitness levels.
I have to apologize for the bland content, but i felt i needed to update everyone on whats been happening lately.
About the look: You know me and vintage and if it’s your first time on the Analogue African, hello my name is Vuyolwethu Hole and i’m an avid vintage shopper, it’s a problem, at a times a great problem.
I’ve always loved colours and prints and this thrift-ed shirt was the perfect print to wear with this skirt, i know the ‘clean and minimal’ trend is a hit at the moment, i’m sorry but i will always be a colourful soul. Print clashing and all, the skirt was an amazing find from Mr Price and the boots are from Legit.
I look forward to what the year has in store and can’t wait to spend more time working on my baby (the blog)
The sweet murmur of life, your basking in the summer moonlight, the freedom lingers in the crisp summer air.
You’ve been walking for miles along people filled coastlines. You can still taste the sweetness of the strawberry sorbet you had for lunch. Barefooted on the beaches of South Africa, your feet grinding on the damp sand make you realize how much you missed summer.
The long nights of wearing short dresses and talking to cute well toned wet boys, hauling wet surfboards. You flirt with the idea of summer romances under bonfire filled beaches.
You look out into the distance and you’re in awe of the splendor of the moon, you focus on the cracking of the wood as it is Engulfed by the fire.
The sound of the ocean crashing against the pier is reminiscent of the many lovers lost and other romantically found under dim street lights, with hearts racing and the limp bodies of lovers being pumped by bottomless beers and sweet ciders. You consider for a moment the sweetness that comes with summer. The tearful laughter’s, the endless road trips and the indie tunes of beach house as the soundtrack to bring it all together.
Your heart is free to truly feel again, not bound by the many layers of winter. You’re inspired to write a novel, paint till the sun greets the day. Get lost in oceans deep, and discover many roads less traveled. Summer is not just a season, it’s a romance the kind that stays in your mind forever. It’s a feeling that drives you to tears in fits of laughter.
It’s your backpack filled with endless novels and empty pages left for free form doodles and sweet lipstick kisses.
Hello my wonderful readers, I’ve been so busy and have neglected the blog but don’t despair your girl is back 🙂
I prayed for you every day, hoping that you might come back to me. I would hold a candle in the wind hoping that it would not blow away. Searching through endless streets, sobbing to ‘Cold’s Play – Yellow’. Coming to the realization that you were gone, never having hope that you were coming back.
Flirting with boys who I knew would never win my heart, scribbling letter after letter professing my love. You were gone forever, like an eagle taking flight, the sun after dawn. You were gone and you took my heart and soul and every organ I intensely loved you with.
All I have are memories, your finger prints tracing a map of love on my back, my face, back and lips. A lingering pain in my heart and your scent all over my bedroom.
As you might have seen by my title it’s officially spring in South Africa whoop whoop this also does however mean my hay fever is going to start acting up. What I love about new seasons especially summer and winter, am the beautiful flowers, the longer days and nights and of course bright, bold and beautiful fashion.
About my outfit: I love this dress I bought from Babette Clothing, they have an incredible range of vintage dresses and this till this day this dress is on my top 10 list. The shoes are from Legit and they are super comfortable,I could run a marathon in these shoes, true story.
Do you believe in second chances? That people can change and that the universe conspires to let things work in your favor? Imagine living out your day dreams waking up to the realization that your life may not be perfect but the way you wake up feeling happy, the Hope you have for tomorrow make it all seem perfect.
Life is never a straight and narrow road, there are disappointments, heartbreaks, we love and at times we lose ourselves. You were the light at the end of the tunnel, you were my rock when times got tough, you encouraged me to push myself harder, when I felt like I was losing my mind you gripped me tighter and told me everything is going to be alright.
When i stumbled and fell, crawled through the mud you were right there at the end of the mess ready to pick me up and wipe me clean. I sit here day dreaming of how far you have taken me, we would talk about traveling the world together, sharing ideas over a fresh pot of green tea in India. Lazy days falling asleep on hammocks.
Through the brightest of days or the scariest of nights you made me laugh louder and shared in my pain as you watched me cry myself to sleep, I disappointed you several times and every time I would hurt you, but there you were waiting for me to run back.
You told me that I am enough, that I am a promise. When I would ask you what’s next you would laugh and tell me to lean on you and not on my own understanding. I’ve pushed you for answers and threatened to leave if you would not give me what I wanted. I’ve been selfish, scared and anxious. But there was never a time when I felt alone even through the pain you were there, a light, my hope.
My Lord, my Heavenly Father, my hope and my everlasting home, my favorite day dream
About the look:
My dress is from YDE I love how romantic, ethereal and the boho chic twist, I wanted to make it cool and casual and less like I’m wearing a wedding dress. I paired the dress with sneakers and this cool rustic looking jacked from Forever 21.
My season has ended, and so a new one begins. Winter’s old death, turning into spring’s new life. Sleeping flowers awaken, unleashing the beauty that lay dormant.
A bitter chill, to a warm breeze. A wailing howling wind, to the peaceful sounds of birds chirping. Frosts grip loosens and turns to morning dew. Embracing what was once taken for granted.
Life, love and liberty. Life once overlooked, now life looked over. Love once ignored, now love is explored. A prisoner once chained to mind,
Now liberated, my spirit roams free. The new season brings new rules. Not the rules of my old existence, But the rules of universal love. For my love to be true,
My life must be as well.
As it is love’s experience, That emerges from life’s journey.
